Where can I buy the du chair?

The du chair is exclusively available through SYSTM. You can purchase online or try it at our Brisbane showroom and at selected events.

Does the du chair come with a footstool?

Yes. A matching, ergonomically designed footstool is available. It tilts and adjusts to perfect your seating style. You can purchase the du chair and the stool together for a discount.

What is the return policy?

We offer a 14-day return policy for chairs in original condition. See our returns policy for full guidelines.

Does the du chair come with a warranty?

Yes. Every chair includes a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects.

Is the du chair suitable for all body types?

Yes. The du chair can be adjusted for different weights and movement speeds using the assistance dial. You can watch our video on how to adjust your du chair here.

Is the du chair suitable for long hours of use?

Yes. It’s ergonomically designed with lumbar support and pairs perfectly with the optional footstool for extended sitting comfort.

Is the du chair adjustable?

Yes. You control the level of support:
• More assistance makes standing easier and slows your descent.
• Less assistance feels more natural and independent.

The dial allows you to increase support during recovery or rehabilitation, then gradually reduce it as your mobility improves. Watch our video on how to adjust your du chair here. LINK TO HOW TO PAGE WITH VIDEOS

All du chairs are finished with champagne metal and a light oak base.

Currently, the du chair is available in four fabric colours with a standard timber and frame finish. More options may become available in future.

What if I buy one and don’t like it?

What is the du chair?

The du chair is a revolutionary non-electric assistive chair that helps you sit and stand with ease. Its unique mechanism works with your body to create smooth, supported motion.

Based on the principle of equipoise, the du chair was developed through a collaboration between inventor Garrett Brown, design studio Clandestine Design, and Ian Reinhardt of RIG Pty Ltd. The design is protected by U.S. Patent No. 12,350,207.

Who created the du chair?

The du chair is an Australian company and was developed through a collaborative design approach between American inventor Garrett Brown, Australian design studio Clandestine Design, and Ian Reinhardt, founder of the du chair.

How does du support patient rehabilitation goals?

The du chair encourages active engagement of muscles during sit-to-stand transitions, helping maintain or rebuild strength and mobility, rather than substituting for patient effort.

Is there evidence supporting du’s health benefits?

Yes. du has undergone research in partnership with the Queensland University of Technology. The studies validate its design principles and potential benefits for mobility, strength preservation, and independence.

What clinical risks does du help minimise?

By promoting active movement rather than passivity, du may help reduce muscle atrophy, fall risk, and functional decline associated with prolonged use of powered lift chairs.

Can du complement existing therapy protocols?

Yes. It can integrate into rehabilitation programs, such as sit-to-stand retraining, offering a safe, measurable tool to progress clients.

How do I evaluate if a client is suitable for du?

Ideal clients are those with some residual strength who benefit from graduated assistance. du is particularly suited for clients aiming to preserve independence, reduce reliance on powered aids, or regain mobility after injury.

Is the du chair easy to assemble?

Yes. It requires no tools, comes with clear instructions, and can be set up in minutes.

How do I clean and maintain it?

Wipe frames and arms with a damp cloth.
Vacuum upholstery weekly.
Avoid harsh chemicals. A cleaning guide is available online at duchair.com.au.

What should I do if I have a problem?

Contact our support team via the details in your purchase documents or on our website. Support is available during business hours.

Can I try the du chair before purchasing?

Yes. SYSTM offers trials at our Brisbane showroom and select events. Check the SYSTM website for locations or to book a demonstration. If you are unable to visit the SYSTM showroom, get in touch and we’ll see what we can do!
